p.ara / Zucker Club
Bremen
Zucker is a Bremen club collective and network rather than just a conventional nightlife business. Its official site explains that Zucker used to have a home in the old Zucker Club and has since continued through interim spaces, currently using p.ara in the Jakobus-Hochhaus, where an underground garage functions as a club room. Programming and social and event traces point toward techno, house, trance, bass, deep hypnotic techno, progressive house and oldschool techno, often with collective, feminist or community-oriented framing. It is valuable because it carries subcultural credibility, non-profit energy and flexible electronic programming.
