Cabaret Aleatoire is one of Marseille's key electronic and alternative music institutions, located inside La Friche la Belle de Mai at 41 Rue Jobin. It is not a narrow basement techno club: it is a SMAC-style concert and club venue with a mixed program, historically spanning funk, soul, rock, abstract hip hop and electronic music. That said, its current programming has a very strong club and electronic signal, with recurring Club Cabaret nights, techno, hard techno, bass, hard groove and experimental electronic events listed across its official site, Shotgun and Resident Advisor. The space has an industrial cultural-venue character and larger capacity feel, making it best treated as a strong electronic-compatible institution rather than a pure micro-club.
